Network Not available!

Network Not Available. For months! In the San Francisco Bay Area!

Yes I have tried updating the Profile and PRL. Yes I have tried Carrier Reset giving them my MSL.

Unrelated complaints follow/just FYI...
I kept sending emails to Tech Support with no response forthcoming. If FreedomPop havs discontinued that form of support (which I think you have) them maybe you should remove the prompt to send an email to tech support so that myself and other are not fooled into thinking that email is the way to get tech support.

Getting into these forums is very difficult!! I logged in using my normal account. But that didn't give me access to post in the forums. I was logged in. But no "New Discussion" tab was present. I had to mill around for hours reading how to use these forums 101. Finally I must have stumbled across a trigger that sent me an email to join the forums.

Whew, that was unnecessarily complex.

    Tried using Application Manager to Force Stop on the FreedomPop Messaging App and then Cleared all the Data. Restarted the FreedomPop Messaging App and sent myself a Text message using the FreedomPop Messaging App. That worked to send/receive text msgs. But that was via Wi-Fi.

    Turned off Wi-Fi and attempt to make a call failed with Network Not Available.

    Turned Wi-Fi back on and the call works via Wi-Fi.

    Hmmmmm; I posted a reply on this thread. But now I don't see the reply. So I am trying again (while watching carefully) to see if I did something wrong???

    For months now I cannot make a mobile call. I have run out of things to try (after update PRL/Profile, new FreedomPop Messaging App). My device is the Samsung Galaxy S II Sprint SPH-D710. Any suggestion?

    Are you using the FP Messaging app dialer? Do not use the native dialer.
    Do you get 3G or 4G signal? Is the signal strong?
    Is Mobile Data turned on in Settings?
    What error messages are you getting?

    @settings/4G settings it shows disconnected with the slider bar green=on
    I tap Scan Now and the result = disconnected

    On the home screen what I think is signal strength shows 4 of 6 bars

    Under Settings/More settings/Mobile networks/Mobile data was turned off, I checked the box to turn it on!

    I get Network Not Available!
    You Have no data connection. Find a better connection and try again.

    On the home page the signal icons show...
    4G shaded
    X shaded

    3G white
    v^ shaded/not yellow green

    3or4 bars of a six bar signal strength

    I'm thinking that means no 4G signal, yes 3G signal with 3 or 4 bars. The 3G arrows will occasionally flash orange and green.

    I have a dumb question about calling via FP Messaging app dialer...
    I enter the phone number and it just sits there?
    There is no Make-The-Call button to Tap?
    It does nothing! I don't get it???

    Settings->More-System Update->Update Profile, Update PRL, reboot
    Any luck now?

    Try using the dialer in the FP app. Does that work?
    This will not work without a mobile data or WiFi connection.
    Since your phone is on 4G Wimax, 4G will not work without Wimax support in your area. That is not the same as 4G LTE.
    What mode is selected under Settings->Connections->More networks->Mobile networks->Network mode?

    Note: Menu navigation may be slightly different on an S2.

    I have Settings/More settings/Mobile networks/Mobile data which was turned off, I checked the box to turn it on!

    On my up-top status/notification bar I have a spinning icon
    The spinning icon says Freedompop Setup Locating user for device

    I think that's the problem!!

    In the past I brushed by this error/problem and went back to Wi-Fi after nothing would work.

    The FP app doesn't work. I have to go back to Wi-Fi to get anything to work and in doing so the...
    Settings/More settings/Mobile networks/Mobile data gets turned off

    Thanks for your help djinks. I really appreciate it!! I have not participated much in mobile phones until this FP Samsung S2. Thanks for the tip about Wimax. Maybe I need to migrate to a 4G LTE model. Meanwhile any idea on how to get Tech Support for FreedomPop Setup Locating user for device?

    I did a search on "Locating user for device"
    WOW!! Many others have this same problem.
    The Freedom accounts just stop working for mobile.
    What is worse, I don't see a solution!!

    I was thinking of upgrading to Samsung Galaxy S4 for 4G LTE.
    But now I fear it will stop working too.
    Am I wrong in thinking our accounts have been abandoned?

    I cannot help you with the FP Messaging app. I never use it. I use Google Hangouts with the Hangouts Dialer. You can search for that on this forum to see how to set it up. I have five phones on FreedomPop that can all share the same Google Voice number. When I run out of data, I switch to another phone.

    I think it will be a good idea to move to an LTE phone before November, when Sprint is supposed to close down the Wimax service. Try a Galaxy S4.

    You may need help from a forum tech agent to resolve your issue ("locating user for device.")

    I uninstalled/installed the Freedompop messenger app and it seems to work now.
