MiFi 500 only getting 3G?

I recently received a MiFi 500 directly from FreedomPop. It seems to be only ever saying '3G' though--I've never seen it say LTE... I live centrally in Austin, TX, so I should definitely be able to get LTE. (My FreedomPop phone gets LTE fine, at the same time the MiFi is saying only 3G...)
The MiFi is set to "LTE Preferred". I've tried to set it to "LTE Only" but it won't let me choose it--when I click 'Ok' on 'Set', it won't choose it.
Any ideas? Should I ask for a replacement unit?
