Groupon sent me a locked iphone 5

I bought it last month (10/6?) when it was $199. It was a gift so it was not activated until recently (less then a month after ordering but after 14 days). Activation attempt failed, and freedom cust service was able to see a lock on the device. Groupon won't let me return/exchange it. Do I have any other options?

    I took a look at your account and was able to see that an agent assisted you and the issue was fixed. Are you still not able to use the device?
