I Highly recommend SPARK enabled phone in areas that support it. I am on Long Island and the improvement with a spark enabled galaxy S4 is Fantastic!

Can you add a SIM list to this, please?
I did not see mention of the Verizon, AT&T, T-mobile iPhones and Nexus models. Are they not welcome?

    Greetings all!

I have had FreedomPop service for about a year, as a BYOD Samsung S4 Triband (TriMode) model.

Can I remove the Sprint / FreedomPop activated SIM, Go to Germany, buy a prepaid SIM there for use in Germany, then back in the USA swap in my old Sprint / FreedomPop SIM and use it as a FreedomPop device as though nothing had happened.

Apparently this S4 is a GSM phone, and supports the frequencies I need in Germany (900 and 1800Mhz)

    Many thanks

I noticed Motorola Triumph on the list. I have one and looked over the menu. How do I update the PRL and update Profile on it?
  • PhilWangS3PhilWangS3 Posts: 75FreedomPop Newbie
I also have a Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE that has a custom ROM by Scratch Wireless. Seems the MEID does not pass the BYOD checker. That is very strange since Scratch Wireless uses Sprint towers. @Ali any thoughts?
  • djinksdjinks Posts: 1,270FreedomPop Newbie, FreedomPop Expert ✭✭✭✭
@RCP - You will need to unlock the phone for international GSM use with the S4. Search XDA-Developers for the method.

@PhilWangS3 Usually I find Update Profile and Update PRL under Settings > More/General > System Updates.
If your Photon Q LTE is still active on Scratch Wireless, it will fail FP's MEID check. Try the Ting checker, as it seems to tell you if the device is still active.

Start a new thread if you want more information.

    very impressive list!

Finally I see the nexus 6 listed but when I enter my iccid it says
We're experiencing an issue with your provided device ID.
To complete your activation, please call 800-671-5017.

The device was originally on AT&T but the phone can be used on CDMA and GSM.

I currently have google fi which uses sprint and T-Mobile network.

So, phones activated on FreedomPop are locked to Sprint? Thanks for the info. I also need to know whether the S4 will still work on FreedomPop if I do unlock it. If so, I could do that unlock, remove the current FP SIM, install a German prepaid SIM, then put the FP SIM back in when I return to the USA?

    Many thanks

I am unsure whether an unlocked Sprint "world phone", used in Europe can be successfully used again on FP. Never tried.

That is a good question to ask on XDA or even on maybe PrepaidGSM

Who can I get help from to activate a Tab 4 7 that the online activation is telling me it's not a sprint device... which I know it is, verified with sprint that it's clean. Tried calling, was just hung up on because I wouldn't give them a 2nd email address???? On hold again for the last 15 mins!!!
  • Ryan Radford 2Ryan Radford 2 Posts: 633FreedomPop Newbie ✭✭✭
@Darren Lilja because the way that FreedomPop handles accounts you will have to use a second email address or add a +1 just fore the @ in the one you are using already. FreedomPop will consider them two separate accounts but your email provider will treat them as though they are the same email. I can personally confirm that this works with both gmail and hotmail.

Want a free lte sim? Message me and ill give you a credit card to purchase it!

Common issues related to FreedomPop Devices:

If you are having trouble with the FreedomPop messaging app registering, always try uninstalling it and then reinstalling it. If that doesn't work download push notification fixer (no root) from the play store. make sure both intervals are set to 5 minutes and click apply.

    I don't work for FreedomPop

Hello...i'm not sure how to activate my old device (galaxy s3) for my daughter to use. I already paid for one month of premium. Downloaded the app, but if I try to call my own phone (from my daughter's), it says Service Unavailable. Before that it would tell me my service is not activiated. Help?

I was unable to get the Freedom Pop app for texting to work on the Ipad mini 2. Is there a separate app or because it is designed for the Iphone, it will not work on the IPad?

Can I activate the Galaxy tab s 8.4? I see that the 10.5 is on the list does that mean the 8.4 works?
  • Chad LeeChad Lee Posts: 14FreedomPop Newbie
I activated an LG Optimus S and only data works. I have sent in a support email for chad.lee at gmail dot com. I was wanting to see if I can just buy a new phone to replace it as Google services updated and used up all the memory.

Freedompop should rename this program to BYOSD.
    "Bring Your Own Sprint Device"

I had two Galaxy S3's, purchased from Freedompop in 2014 that died, and needed new phones. After reading through the website and forums, I purchased a new, unlocked Samsung S4 and iphone 5S from a third party. When I tried to activate them, was told that neither would work because they do not have the CDMA network hardware that Sprint uses and Freedompop requires. They have GSM hardware. There is no conversion that will EVER make them work. Sure would have been helpful to know this before purchasing phones that have to be returned.

Before I bought them, I tried to locate phones for sale at Freedompop, but you cannot see phones for sale when you are logged into your existing account. And Freedompop offers no information on how to change devices on your account. You must navigate the home page as if you are a new customer. About a quarter of the way down the main page, there is a picture of someone holding a Samsung phone and below that a tab with green lettering that says "Check Availability". If you click on that, and then enter a new (not your existing) email address and location information, you will come to the page that shows phones for sale. Why Freedompop doesn't make this information available to existing customers is just bad form. Customers often want to upgrade phones, or just need new ones. Once I had my new Freedompop phones purchased and set up under new email accounts I was able to get technical support to import my old phone numbers and then cancelled my old accounts. Freedompop even prorated the balance left on my yearly plan and issued me a credit.

So, be advised...Any BYOD device must be Sprint CDMA compatible. Technical support advised me that THERE ARE ONLY THREE PHONES which will work regardless of this network hardware. They are the Samsung Galaxy S3, Google Nexus 5 and the Apple i5. I did end up purchasing two phones from Freedompop. The prices are fair and phones are guaranteed to work. I am remaining a customer but wish this information was provided in a better format on the Freedompop website.
