Moto E 2nd Gen Firmware Update?

bobbyjbobbyj Posts: 19FreedomPop Newbie
I recently purchased a Moto E (2nd Gen) from FreedomPop. I noticed that the firmware version is older than those that are available on the Sprint website. The version on my phone is FP_ME_03.04.19.0823_LPI23.29-18-S.2. The lastest version available on the Sprint website for the Moto E is LPI23.29-18-S.11 (S.11 on Sprint vs. S.2 on FP).

The Sprint versions indicate patches for the Stagefright vulnerability along with other bug fixes. When I test my phone, it shows that it is still vulnerable to Stagefright. When will the Freedompop firmware be updated for this phone?

You can always flash the official firmware via fastboot if you have the expertise to do so. You will no longer have a FreedomPop ROM, but instead will have the official Sprint/Boost/Virgin ROM (it doesn't include any Sprint apps other than Mobile ID). You'll have to download the FreedomPop apps from Play Store again, but the phone will otherwise remain active.

  • Hello @bobbyj and @Stickboy

The latest Moto-E firmware can be downloaded by going to the following link: http://goo.gl/7HkgTr and you can learn how to flash firmware through this link: http://goo.gl/25BzeQ . Please note that after flashing firmware you can download our FP apps from the Play Store. If you guys are having issues with connecting to the play store please feel free to contact us!

@Karina Magana The shortened url http://goo.gl/7HkgTr no longer works. Could you post a new one? Thanks!
