Netgear Gateway 6100D Modem

If your having connection issues, Please go online and make sure you have more than 100mbs left on the account. Freedompop/Sprint likes to suspend the data when it gets close to the 100mbs data cap, because of Sprint's 3 hour delay. Please verify you have more than 100mbs. If you do, please try the next step.

Try to update the Profile and PRL. PRL is to help get a stronger 3g signal and the Profile update will help you connect to a local Sprint tower more efficiently. Freedompop uses Sprint for all of its 4G and 3G Data needs

Here is how to update to the profile and PRL-

Note: Make sure you are connect to the Hotspot using the Ethernet or Wirelessly. Make sure when you connect to the Modem Wirelessly, that the Modem is the only internet connection. If you have any other Ethernet plugged into your home network, on the PC or Laptop, please unplug. If your connected, via Ethernet, make sure that your WiFi is not connected to another network.

1. On a computer that is connected to the Netgear Gateway, open the web browser and enter http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar. Press Enter.

2. Once Prompted, enter the User name and Password for the Netgear Gateway, and then click OK.

Note: Default 6100D admin password to log into the Administrative Setting - "Username" = ( admin ) & "Password" = ( password )

3. Click Settings.

4. Click the Network tab.

5. Scroll to and click the Update data profile button and wait until it completes.

6. Click the OK button.

7. Click the tab labeled Network. (You might be in this setting still after you update the profile)

8. Click Update PRL.

9. Click OK.

The PRL is updated.

Note: It may be necessary to reconnect the computer to the mobile Wi-Fi network.

Once updated, you should have connection again. This will get the Netgear Gateway 6100D back on track to receive a signal, to broadcast Wi-Fi to the device you want to use.

Passwords, and How to change them-

Freedompop like to use ( freedompop ) as the password no caps and no numbers. On some of the 6100D, you will find the password if you turn the device over and look on the Label. If you can not connect find the password, Connect via Ethernet and go into Administrative settings. Change the Network password to something you can remembers. Sometimes it is better to use wireless devices after you configure the 6100D in the settings via Ethernet. See instructions below.

Is there no longer a free 500MB monthly usage option? I ordered this today thinking that was available but when I look at the plans now offered only after I had put my order through I see that 500MB is now $3.95/month? My interest in this device is only for a back up internet device and it will probably only be used for a monthly test to make sure it is capable of working if needs be. I hope it was OK to ask this question here.

Downgrade the paid plan to the default FREE plan. It only shows when you have NO paid plan.
Also must downgrade the services. Downgrade each one if there was more. When there are NO subscribed services and NO paid plan, then FREE takes over.

What is the highest plan for this device? I remember on the Hub Burst, I was able to get very large amounts of data for a very reasonable price for home internet.

Now they want to charge $75 for 10 gigs on the MiFi 500 LTE!

Since this replaced the hub burst, does it have the same plan options that it had?
