Very slow data speed

pcmeierpcmeier Posts: 1FreedomPop Newbie
I'm located in the SF bay area and am new to FreedomPop. I turned off my wifi and ran some speed tests . The first time I got 2.34 Mbps down and 0.08 Mbps up. The second time I ran the test, I got an error saying Communication Issues. Ten minutes later, I got results similar to my first test.

My SIM status shows Freedompop Network, Signal strength about -108 dBm 8 asu, and Cellular Network Type toggling between HSPA and HSPA+.

Why am I getting such slow download and upload speeds?

I also tried making calls without Wifi. I've got "You Have no data connection. Find a better connection and try again." a few times, but was also able to make one call successfully.

I know for sure where I'm located has 4G LTE network available. What am I missing?

If this is a global sim, then you are either connecting to Tmobile or att.

If it's Tmobile, then that would explain the low signal you are receiving, secondly the global sim is from the UK and has an very high latency that is affecting things too.

If you are having trouble with the FreedomPop messaging app registering, always try uninstalling it and then reinstalling it. If that doesn't work download push notification fixer (no root) from the play store. make sure both intervals are set to 5 minutes and click apply.

    I don't work for FreedomPop

    Hi Ryan
Your response here is great and what I have been looking for but wondered if you could elaborate?
I have a global SIM (from the UK) and have come to the US (Chicago) and can only find Freedompop's 2g network using foggmobile APN.
Is there anything I can do to get faster network because it's nearly impossible to use? (I.e. too slow)

    Thanks

@Ben Snapper - are you certain that your phone supports the 3G frequency bands used in the states? If it doesn't then you may only see the 2G towers.

You may be able to check using the following link (use AT&T or T-Mobile for the carrier, as selecting Freedompop seems to only reflect their CDMA coverage):
