Connected to my Mifi 4082, just no inertnet

Why is it that 50% of the time I am connected to the mifi 4082 my laptop tells me no internet access? I updated the PRL, and the profile. I have good strength on the mifi device.

1. I turn on the mifi 4082, the light is solid green for 3g coverage.
2. Turn on my laptop. Connect to the mifi, the green mifi light starts blinking regularly.
3. Try to get on the internet and nothing! Go down to my wifi icon and it show the connection as LIMITED. Limited connection = no internet. Everything is like it should be just no internet connection.

You can actually be on the internet, and all of a sudden you lose the internet and look down at my wifi logo it will state "limited". Good signal and everything.

@jeffrey schmidt‌ - You may need to perform a Master Reset on your device. The master reset button is accessed through an opening labeled “RESET” on the back cover of the device. You need a paperclip or similar object to press the button.

To reset both the router hardware and the device software to the original factory settings:
    1. Make sure your device is powered on.
    2. Remove the back cover and locate the opening on the back of the device labeled “RESET.”
    3. Insert a paper clip into the hole and hold the button down for six seconds until the LED goes out. The LED color will vary depending on the status of the device when you reset it.

Your list of wireless networks will now show the original default network when you first configured your device (Sprint_Mifi_4082 or something similar to that). Connect to your device again (default WiFi password is "freedompop") and reconfigure it. You'll need to go through the setup wizard -- once this is complete you should have no issues.

If you cannot connect to the device via WiFi, then you must connect using any micro USB cord. Attach the cord to your device and computer, then type mifi.mlp or 192.168.1.1 into your browser. Make sure you are disconnected from any other networks when you do this. Once this is entered into the address bar, hit the enter key and you should be directed to the setup wizard in the device utility.

You will need to use the original password (“admin”) to complete the setup in the device utility.

    Taylor,

I have done this so many time that I lost count. The master reset does not help with this problem. Any other ideas?

This has worked for me in a somewhat similar situation:

    1. Plug a USB cable into your computer
    2. Turn on the MiFi4082 let the light turn green.
    3. Plug the micro USB into the MiFi4082
    4. Wait for it to connect with "no internet access"
    5. Wait a little longer (not more that 2min) for it to turn to "internet access"

Just something to try while you wait for a official response and it is easier than a reset.
I have my fingers crossed for you.

Not a big fan of the MiFi4082

We have done everything to think of, but we cannot know what going on because we cannot see the computer screen or all it information. You can go to a sprint store with a laptop (if you have one) and MiFi where you they can look at the information in real time. Or you can have a tech person come to your home to troubleshoot a problem. Troubleshoot problem by way of forum is very limited. The best way a person can help over the internet is by way of taking control over the computer, but it request a internet connection too. Next best thing is with screen sharing program.

Well I guess if nobody can figure out the problem I will be leaving. Oh well I guess it was worth a try.

((( I wish Freedompop would distinguish between 4g wimax and 4g LTE better on the ads. There is a huge difference between coverage areas and sometimes it is confusing as to which device will work where.
Every time I tried to go with the LTE device it never worked out by checkout time. The website would not let me get a LTE device, it would switch it at checkout. )))

There is a way to get an lte device to work try this link http://www.freedompop.com/devices/freedom-spot-lte Also for coverage check sprint.com/coverage and sensorly.com Be aware that sprints coverage map is very optimistic though.

    Did that.

It always tries to steer me to a wimax device which is USELESS in most areas.

Mifi 4082 has left the building. I no longer need this info, you can close the discussion. However it did not get settled.
