LTE -> 3G on LineageOS 14.1

I just installed the latest LineageOS nightly on my FreedomPop Moto E. I have LTE working with MVNO slayer. I get usual LTE speeds. The issue is that I don't think 3G works. I am in a LTE area; however, if I set the preferred network type to 3G, it stays on LTE. Any tips? Basically, I want to make sure my phone can still establish a 3G connection on this ROM?
