Will a Generic Android Smartwatch work on Freedompop Free Service?

If the smartwatch has a sim card slot, will data service work? Looking to use zello app as a walky talky and GPS tracking services.

@LloydC - it probably depends on whether you can set the APN config on the watch. FP's service is VOIP, so the SIM will be used for data access only - regular voice/text won't work without FP's Messaging app (which probably can't be installed on a generic smartwatch). Some watches seem to use text to configure the watch, which would be a problem.

@walter zina - the link below (belongs to an ebay seller - not me) seems to have a bunch of possibly useful info on configuring the dz09 & seems to imply you can set the APN directly on the watch:
    https://myawesomegadgets.com/smartwatch-setup-and-instructions/dz09/#5696e06645b3bc61b

For the FP LTE SIM, the APN would be fp.com.attz
For the FP Global SIM, the APN would be freedompop.foggmobile.com

I'd be interested to know if you get the dz09 working.

I know this is an older topic, but has anyone been able to get freedompop to work on the DZ09 watch?

The genuine DZ09 lets you set the APN. Some counterfeit dz09 don't have that feature, and/or the browser facebook and whatsapp apps don't work so well. More info here on how to set the APN.

Note, I have the No.1 D5 Android 4.4 smartwatch, and it lets you set the APN, so it works fine with FPop Global SIM (T-Mobile) and LTE SIM (ATT). It's a full android OS running on the watch, yet slightly modified for easier user experience on the small round touch screen.

Which DZ09 is on the Gear Best site? genuine or counterfeit ?
I found this note on their site:
Note: 1.This phone will only work with GSM networks: GSM850/900/1800/1900MHz
    Those the 2G GSM bands.

@Chris Coleman You got it to work ? I thought AT&T had shut off all the 2G bands. Then the LTE SIM ought to not work if those bands are all the 2G ones that were shut down last month.
Be my Valentine ZTE, Victory, LG Volt, 803S, & 4 SIMs

    1. GearBest and BangGood probably sell the authentic DZ09 but I'm just guessing, best for you to compare the photos on the seller site with the photos on the manufacturer site, and then, only buy with buyer protection either thru your credit card (not debit card) or thru paypal or amazon or a site with strong buyer protection.
    2. Yep, the FPop LTE SIM (ATT) works fine in the No1 D5 Android 4.4.2 smart watch phone. You set the APN in the D5 smart watch's Settings menu, to fp.com.attz and 3G cellular data works fine thru the ATT towers. The No1 D5 supports 3G on bands 850 and 2100. ATT offers 3G on 850 and 1900. So the D5 watch just connects to the tower on 850 for 3G. The D5 watch also supports all 4 bands of 2G but 2G isn't used by ATT cellular towers anymore. More info about the D5 D6 and D7 smart watches on http://no1phone.cc which redirects to their main site http://en.001phone.cn
