Everyone receives all texts from all numbers

Dennis MuhlesteinDennis Muhlestein Posts: 15FreedomPop Newbie
1) Signed up for family plan
2) Received 3 sim cards. 3 numbers listed in my.freedompop.com account.
- It is unclear which number goes with which sim card. Apparently you can log in with any of the numbers on any of the sims and receive calls to the number that you logged in with even if the IMEI number on the sim isn't the one associated with the number. (Found that out by logging in with username instead of a phone number and it just randomly picked the first number on the account, which wasn't actually the number associated with the IMEI anyway.)
3) Calls and internet work fine. Texts are another story though.
-If you send a text to any of the 3 phone numbers on the plan, everyone on the plan sees the text. (BAD)

-Support listed the IMEI numbers and their associated phone numbers and had us log out of the app (and even uninstall it) and log back in with the numbers associated with the IMEI on the sim.
-Nothing changed. Calls still work fine but texts can be seen by everyone in the family plan.

So I've got this support ticket opened but I decided to post here to see if anyone else had a similar issue. Were they able to solve it? Thus far everything support has recommended has had no effect. They keep saying they'll escalate it but I've not had any suggestions or info to help fix the problem.

(All phones on iOS 10 w/ Latest FP app from app store.)

Thoughts?

    Hello,

I am sorry to hear about this, I would suggest attempting a carrier reset. Please follow the steps below and let me know if it helped.

Connect your phone to WiFi if it's available

    Go to your home screen

    Select your phone's native dialer

(Make sure you are not tapping on the Messaging Application)

    Dial ##72786# or ##SCRTN#

    Tap Dial, Send or Call

That's something that has also been suggested before. ##UPDATE# or any of the other codes suggested all return "Error performing request: Unknown Error".

(I have no idea why there are so many different codes suggested
    I've been told
    ##UPDATE# and now
    ##72786#
They all give the same error, for what it's worth someone also recommended 373827 but I'm pretty sure they just made a typo on ##UPDATE# and it should have been 873287)

The thing is, we can receive calls and data works fine. I don't think this has to do with a carrier setting. We DO receive the texts. The problem is, every phone on the plan gets all the texts. I can text any number of the 3 we have, even the one we haven't installed yet... and we still all get the texts.

Is nobody else on the family plan having a problem like this? I'm very curious why this problem exists in the first place and I'd be super happy if someone had a suggestion that actually fixed it.

Try logging out of all the phones. Log into the main phone as normal. Log into each phone with the phone number as the id and not email.

It seems like this would be the correct solution but it's been suggested and tried already (more than once and also deleted the app and re-installed and retried). I'm still waiting for the case to be escalated to someone that can actually figure out what's going on and suggest something that will help fix it.

Mostly I posted on this forum to see if there is anyone else that had a similar issue and was able to fix it.

In the end I canceled the family plan and am switching our sims to individual plans.
Support was unable to fix the issue and they just stopped responding to my inquiries. Oh well.

I'd like to toss out a 'survey' of family plan users.....
    1. You have a family plan with ALL lines under ONE email account. Does a text sent to one line appear on ALL of them ? Or just the one ?
    2. You have a family plan with EACH line under its own email account, individually. Does a text sent to one line appear on ALL of them ? Or just one ?

I have a family plan with 2 phones, under one FP account. Each phone is signed in via phone number with the shared password. A text sent to one device is received by all (BAD)! Unsure how to setup a family plan account with individual emails.

This is the same for me. A text sent to one device is received by all. I hope they can come up with a solution soon.

Same issue here as everyone above is stating. 2/20/18 is the date and I see this problem has been going on awhile. Unable to port numbers as well with family plan, which is no real big deal but still had I known the texting issue I would have made two seperate accounts between my wife and I and kept our old numbers we had for 15 years. I don't feel confident a solution will be found other than make seperate accounts.

I also have this texting problem, and I suspect most others with family plans do as well, just not reported on this thread. I'm using 2 Google Nexus 5 smartphones with LTE SIM's on Android v6.0.1, and sent texts are appearing on both phones (Privacy?). This should be a malfunction that can be easily reproduced by FreedomPop technicians thus leading to a parameter change or software fix. Considering the severity of this malfunction and the duration of time over which it has been reported, it seems unusual that technical specialists or engineering support appears to not be involved. Having tried, without success, the solutions suggested in this thread and another thread, I plan to continue monitoring this posting for further updates from FreedomPop with hopes they will soon find a solution. Performing a Factory Data Reset is simply an unacceptable approach unless FreedomPop technicians can duplicate and confirm with absolute certainty that it is the only fix.
