I get routed via European gateways

I am in the US and have the freedompop global 100 SIM card in a Huawei Honor 5x phone. When I access the internet using WiFi, everything is normal. When I use mobile data for internet, I get search results from google.be and am not able to find optimal local results. FP says that this is something in my browser and I should delete cookies etc. I believe that the is something related to freedompop.foggmobile.com whihc is my accesspoint and I see a greyout setting at 3.co.uk, too.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

The Global SIM typically gives you a UK IP address, which websites may pick up & give you localized results basing your location on that IP. You can check the geographic location of your IP address by going to sites like http://iplocation.net/find-ip-address

Try turning off any 'share your location with apps' settings in your phone/browser & going directly to your site's typical USA URL - ie: http://google.com
