I can't be heard or breaking up when I make calls

Greetings all, I'm a newbie, who needs help. Everything is working perfectly, except when I try to make a call. I hear everything clearly, but the person I'm calling complains they can't hear me or that I'm breaking up. I've tried the common solutions, ##72786# and deleting and reinstalling the Freedom message app, but nothing works. Has anyone tried to improve audio quality by changing the advanced setting options, like the adaptive rate control and/or codecs? or is there something else I should try?
