Domestic unlock request for GSM/UMTS/LTE capable Freedompop phone

dimusdimus Posts: 124FreedomPop Newbie
In general, Sprint (and its MVNOs) phones domestic unlock (assuming the phone is GSM/UMTS/LTE capable) is that the phone can be unlocked after one year of service.

See Sprint prepaid devices unlock policy:

https://www.reviews.org/mobile/unlock-your-sprint-phone/

My phone ZTE Prestige 2 is GSM/UMTS/LTE capable (compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile)

see https://www.phonearena.com/phones/ZTE-Prestige-2_id10481

CDMA: 800, 1900 MHz
GSM: 850, 1900 MHz
UMTS: 850, 1700/2100, 1900 MHz
LTE (FDD): Bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 25, 26
LTE (TDD): Bands 41

and I would like to unlock it (I have this phone for 1 year) to use with GSM SIM (AT&T/T-Mobile/foreign GSM operators).

Good day. We can see that this is a CDMA locked to Sprint device activated with us.
We can go ahead and request to release from our database to Sprint but if we do, it can only be used with other Sprint MVNO's like us, within the US. We do not have the availability to unlock it for GSM use, to use GSM sim cards within or outside the US, we do apologize.

If you need to unlock it for GSM instead of release, we recommend you contact Sprint directly, to see if as the main carrier, they offer such option. If you would like to proceed with us releasing the device, you will need to cancel your account.

    Hi Alejandra,

I am talking about GSM unlock (to use this phone in Mexico on vacation with local SIM card), I do not want to cancel my FreedomPop service.

    Sprint policy is following:
    1. Sprint unlocks SIM card slot of MVNOs devices for GSM usage upon request of MVNO Customer Support I can not call directly to Sprint because I am not a Sprint customer.
    2. Sprint immediately unlocks SIM slot for GSM usage outside of US (still upon request of MVNO Customer Support) which is done on behalf of MVNO customer (myself in this case).
    3. Sprint unlocks SIM slot for GSM domestic usage (still upon request of MVNO personnel) after one year of service within corresponding MVNO (FreedomPop in my case).

So, I am asking FreedomPop Customer Service to contact Sprint to unlock GSM slot of my phone for both domestic and international usage.

    IMEI: 990 008 813 619 868
    MEID: 99 008 813 619 68
    ICCID: 890 112 020 023 455 139 26

I contacted today Sprint Customer Service and they insist that unlock request for FreedomPop (Sprint MVNO) phone must be issued by FreedomPop against Sprint. I know they are right because in the past I successfully unlocked Boost Mobile and RingPlus phone by contacting their Customer Support departments .
