Mobile service no longer work

I recently switch phone and now my SIM no longer worked. The mobile data icon in my status bar shown up but its showing no connection (icon stays empty). I changed the APN setting and the Freedompop message app is showing "setup is completed". I tried switching the SIM back to my old phone and it works. Please advise.

    Thanks for the details response. I can confirmed that the phone is GSM unlocked and running Android 8.0 and I followed every steps under the Android section. It is still without connection (pls see the pic I attached).

    I set the APN again without WiFi on and reboot. The mobile connection icon is still showing it's not connected and the fp app setup process shows that it is waiting for connection when WiFi is off.

    I have tried uninstalling, installing apk, then APN with WiFi off and reboot. Still no luck.

    Factory reset and data wipe, APN reset with wifi off, reboot. There is still no mobile connection. I will attach a screenshot right after reboot later.
