IMEI fails

Swappa and ATT both say my IMEI is good, but Freedompop says my IMEI is invalid. Might be useful to 1) provide more troubleshooting info than "invalid" and 2) reconcile why other carriers are fine with IMEI. I get the impression that the IMEI check at freedompop could use an upgrade. I use freedompop wifi at home and I LOVE the price, speed and reliability...but the byod for cell phones comes up a bit short for setup, support, troubleshooting.

In order to activate a device on Freedompop BYOD it needs to be a Sprint device. Freedompop runs on the Sprint network which is CDMA. ATT and T-Mobile are GSM.

What model phone and what previous carrier?

Yup, it has to be a locked Sprint phone with a clean ESN (completed terms of service with Sprint in good standing).
